The glorious Monastery of Apostle Andrew (Andreas) of Milapidia with the remarkable Ecclesiastical Museum is located at the village of Peratata. The Monastery that was founded in the 13th century, even though it suffered damages from the earthquakes still has rare wall paintings from the 16th century, the screen from the 17th century and icons. The most important relic is the sacred relic of Apostle Andrew, which came from Mount Athos. At the left sole of the saint the flesh is still visible, as well as dried blood and the hole from his crucifixion.
Of great value is the Ecclesiastical Museum that functions at a special area, within the Monastery. At the Museum two handwritten letters by Agios Cosmas of Aetolia, the shroud of Gregory V, the embroidered Archdiocesan bag of Kefalonia and a lot of other relics of the churches and the monasteries of the area which cover a period of four centuries.
It is a woman’s monastery and it celebrates on the 30th of November and on the Bright Friday (in memory of Zoodochos Pigi - Life Giving Source, the second protector of the Monastery).
