The Archaeological Museum of Chios is located at a central spot of the city and is housed at a characteristic building of the beginning of the 1970s.
It includes important exhibits that come from excavations carried out at the island and date from the Neolithic Period to Late Antiquity. What stand out are the Neolithic findings from the cave of Agios Galas, the prehistoric and archaic findings from Emporio, inscriptions and architectural members, works of sculpture, pottery and metallurgy from the Archaic to the Roman period, as well as the impressive restoration of the unique tomb of Macedonian style, which was discovered at the area of Frangkomahalas.
