The keeper of the history and tradition in Nea Figaleia in Elis is the Folklore Museum. It is housed in a s two-storey renovated neo-classical, stone building of 1847, the “Balafareiko”, with an elaborate wooden, painted ceiling, which has been removed from another mansion.
Ay its areas are exhibited invaluable relics from the local tradition, which were gathered with care from the people from the wider area of Olympia, in order to keep the tradition alive.
The Folklore Museum includes collections of textiles, embroideries, local costumes, various items of everyday use, religious relics and among them a bell from the period of King Otto.
