The War Museum of Thessaloniki is one of the most remarkable and interesting in the city. It is located at the centre of the city, at Pedion tou Areos, and is housed in an impressive and renovated building that was constructed in 1902 according to plans by the Italian architect Vitaliano Posseli.
Its collections recreate, in a colorful way, the war history of Greece from the Revolution of 1821 to the end of the World War II. It includes rare relics, guns, medals, documents, maps and photos, as well as works of art dealing with the subject matter of war.
At the courtyard of the museum there is an important exhibition of military vehicles and airplanes that have been used by the Greek army.
