National Gallery – Alexander Soutzos Museum

The most important and largest art gallery in Greece was founded in 1900 and its mission is the collection, maintenance, preservation and exhibition of art works, but also their use for education and cultivation of the public. Its collections are the result of donations of private collections and artists, and the money left in his will by Alexandros Soutzos.

It possesses approximately 20,000 works of art, paintings, sculptures and engravings, which cover Greek and European artistic creation from the Middle Byzantine Period to the modern times. It is housed at a modern building, at a central location of Athens, while its glyptotheque is situated at the Army Park, at the area of Goudi.
